Looking for a job is seldom easy for any student. For you, the international student, the job search process can be especially confusing. You may lack an understanding of the UK employment regulations, or perhaps you are unaware of the impact your career choice has on your job search. You may also be unsure about your role as the student job seeker and the resources used by the UK employers to find candidates.

Maybe you’ll decide that you wish to stay on in the UK and look for a job or to return home or travel to another country to look for a job and work there. Whatever the decision you make it’s important to prepare well in advance and get as much informed as one can.

(1) If you feel like working in the UK, see how much money you need to earn. Do you have time to work as well when you are studying?

(2) First of all check if you eligible for working in the UK, and if so, see how many hours a week you can work. For certain types of work programs, you may want to get a visa before coming to the UK.

(3) Start searching for the job you want.

(4) To apply for a job, you may want to create a British-style CV and write a cover letter.

(5) Prepare yourself to be invited to one or more job interviews.

(6) Once you have started working you have to start adapting to the culture of the place you’re going to work at workplace and you’ll have to deal with issues such as tax. You also may need to open a bank account.
